MAGNUS is currently looking for experienced IT security professionals in support of the Department of Justice, U.S. Marshals Service.

Information System Security Analyst duties include:

  • Technical support in the areas of vulnerability assessment, risk assessment, network security, product evaluation, and security implementation.
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of security solutions to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information.
  • Provide technical evaluations of customer CM and CMI solutions and provide security recommendations.
  • Participate in the design of information system business impact analysis, system categorization, contingency plans, privacy documents, and other system security documentation to maintain appropriate levels of protection and meet requirements for minimizing operational impact to the enterprise.
  • Conduct testing and audit log reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of current security measures.

Required Skills

  • B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science or a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of federal information systems security experience.
  • Broad knowledge of Federal Government Cyber Security requirements:
  • Legislative Requirements
  • OMB and NIST Guidance
  • Information Assurance & Compliance Requirements
  • Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) management
  • System authorizations and configuration management
  • Experience creating or modifying information security documentation
  • Experience testing and documenting information security controls (NIST SP 800-53v3 or v4)
  • Excellent Written and Oral communications skill

Preferred Skills

  • CISSP, Security +, or other relevant certification
  • Active Top Secret Clearance

Information Security Engineer – Monitoring duties include:

  • Coordination with organization users, DOJ JSOC, and US-CERT on security incidents;
  • Ensure all security incidents are tracked in the established reporting tools;
  • Ensure all security incidents are handled within the established timeframes;
  • Assist in the management of SIEM alerts and the investigation of suspected incidents;
  • Coordinate with 24/7 SOC operations to ensure incident response and monitoring activities are consistent around the clock (This position requires standard 9-5 M-F business hours) and;
  • Draft user awareness bulletin content highlighting current threats and trends in security incidents.

Required Skills

  • B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science or a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of federal information systems security experience.
  • Experience with system event auditing, SIEM tool management and use, incident response procedures, and current malicious threat vectors.

  • Perform router and firewall configuration assessments to ensure least privileged functionality across the enterprise;
  • Provide subject matter experience in planning of the new technology projects; and
  • Support the annual DOJ vulnerability and Penetration Testing (VAPT) assessment;

Required Skills

  • B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science or a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of federal information systems security experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Cybersecurity certification preferred (e.g. CISSP, CEH);
  • Security tool certification preferred; and
  • Network certification preferred (e.g. CCNA).
